The following excerpts from the 1996 Holiday Issue of Style Magazine, one of metro Detroit's premiere upscale publications, describe Arteva Homes's feature project in Bloomfield Hills. The article highlights the results of the pursuit of perfection that is a hallmark of Arteva Homes.

Style MagazineThe Bloomfield Hills home is traditional, warm and comfortably formal. A major focus of the home is its elaborate moldings, wainscoting and painted finishes. Each room features different textures. Crackled or marbleized finishes cover the walls and moldings. Carpenters and painters worked in the home for nine months during the construction. A crew of furniture refinishers created the lavish details.

The entrance foyer is large and grand. The double circular stairway has a hand-wrought iron staircase, columns and a 2½ story-high dome. The dome has painted trompe l'oeil windows with a view of Michigan birds surrounded by a blue sky. An elaborate crystal chandelier hangs from the dome.
Luxury Staircase
The large living room features two seating areas. One has a Trouvailles handkerchief table, an antiquated blackwood coffee table by Brunschwing and Fils and two different sofas, one fully upholstered in a cream-colored silk, the other in a complementary cream silk fabric on a wood frame offset with tasseled pillows. Oriental accents highlight the arrangement.

Across the room is a less formal area with a white chenille couch with peach fringe, an E.J. Victor chest in burled ash, floral tapestry chairs and a television in an entertainment center. The wife notes that when they entertain, with family or friends, somehow the men always end up in the casual area.

The fireplace features marble insets and ornate details of leaves and shells designed and built by Bruno Trentacost of Custom Designed Woodwork Inc. in Clarkston.

The kitchen, family room and living room all have walk-outs to beautiful terracing and a unique negative edge pool - in which the water cascades over the edge into the woods and is re-circulated in a trough - built by Paddock Pools in West Bloomfield.

The first-floor master suite opens with a sitting room reminiscent of a turn-of-the-century veranda. The sitting room features a moss-green couch with yellow floral pillows, all in Brunschwig and Fils fabrics, a small glass breakfast table, a Stark trellis rug rest in on cream carpeting, and wall paper mimicking a stone wall with greenery.

Luxury StaircaseThe master bedroom features a pink striped tray ceiling features a ceiling fan, below which rests the bed with fabrics in a peach, rose and green floral pattern with butterflies upon a pink and white candy-cane stripe. A chaise-and-a-half in cream cotton is next to a skirted table with fringe in a complementary plaid.

The master bath is all in cream marble, with the tub set in a large bay. The circular shower appears 'hidden' in the room because of the rose-patterned wallpaper on the outside.

Upstairs are two suites of rooms for the couple's children and two large guest rooms. The jewel of the upstairs is a dark, fully enclosed media room with movie chairs, black leather couches, a huge movie screen, projector and wet bar. A mural on the wall with a cobalt-blue evening sky, pink clouds and black silhouetted branches emphasizes the theatrical setting.

The lower level is more than a basement recreation room. A full kitchen opens into a huge family room. The large playroom is for the grandchildren. A billiards room, wine cellar with a Mexican tile floor and an exercise room complete the area."
